Five Weeks

In some ways it seems like a lifetime ago... other times it feels like just yesterday... that Owen was born. Here we are, five weeks later! Owen has grown in so many ways - and so have we. While it still feels like there is a tremendous learning curve we must go through (I'm sure there is), we are all doing so much better taking care of each other.

Owen is doing a good job nursing and it makes me very happy. It is precious time we spend together. We may begin pumping after next week - then Dad can be part of the feeding process (and maybe I can sleep for more than 2-3 hours at a time). He seems to be growing well. Scott weighed Owen on the bathroom scale today and it says he weighs 13 lbs! (However, it said he weighed 11.5 lbs last week - either way, he's grown.)

We've been using cloth diapers for about two weeks now. We only have a dozen so it means we must wash them about every day - and supplement with disposable diapers (we've been using enviro-friendly disposables). I tried to buy another dozen diapers so we don't have do laundry so often expect they are backordered for three weeks. I don't want to wait that long, so I am going to look for other distributors.

We plan to celebrate Owen's five week birthday by introducing him to Survivor! Yeah! We hope he'll enjoy it (and us too!).

As a side note, it is so weird to see how dark my hair is now! I wonder if I am going to fall into the group of ladies whose blonde hair darkens after childbirth?!? Apparently, having a child really does change everything! (I am holding out that it is just the winter/home-bound doldrums that cause this unwelcome change.)

I agree, you guys are a beautiful family. Its cool to see how Owen is doing. I look forward to meeeting him and seeing you guys again soon. Good lord, did I say something real without trying to hide behind humor and sarcasm?
Also, as a longtime member of the brunette community, I must state officially that there is nothing wrong with having dark hair.
