Happy Easter!

This Easter weekend was celebrated together with Grandma and Grandpa Gilchrist and Aunt Denise. They all traveled down to VA to attend little cousin Paul's christening (Paul is the son of cousin Ruthie and Jorge; he was born two weeks before Owen on 12/31/04).

It was nice to spend the weekend with my family. They were all so happy to spend time with Owen, which is nice for me to have a break.

On Saturday night we had a nice dinner. I cooked a leg of lamb, garlic mashed potatoes, corn and farmer cheese. All the ingredients were natural from Trader Joes. It was a delicious meal and was quite easy to cook (the lamb came pre-seasoned and the potatoes pre-cut). We all enjoyed the meal... even Grandpa despite his concern the mint jelly wasn't green (since it was organic without any food coloring!).

Sunday was the christening so we all dressed up and went off to church (yes, even me and Scott). Owen was cranky during the church ceremony so we slipped out to a couch and nursed him. We made it back to see Paul's christening. Paul was such a good baby during the ceremony even though he wasn't feeling well. Sadly, he broke his shoulder the day before when he and his Dad took a spill down the stairs. Although his shoulder has a break in it, he should do just fine in a few weeks (and Dad is ok too).

We were so happy to spend Easter day with family. In addition to getting to meet Paul for the first time, we saw Cousin Billy and Marti (Ruthie's parents), her brothers and Aunt Helen (Babcia's sister and Billy's mom). Everyone was so happy to meet Owen too (even though it was Paul's big day). It will be wonderful to have Owen and Paul grow up together (although Paul lives in TX). Plus, it is great to have Ruthie as a wonderful support to talk about the challenge of motherhood. She and Jorge are doing a great job as parents and I am sure Paul will grow up to be a healthy, happy young boy.

This last week has ushered in two important new developments. First, I started pumping my breastmilk to feed Owen with a bottle. The pumping is going ok, but the bottle is a bit slow going. He has successfully fed from it one time, but I think the more we try the better he'll do. The second new development is showering. Yes, instead of taking baths in the traditional kitchen sink way, Owen has begun showering with me or Scott. He likes it so much better since he is soothed by the sound of the shower and he doesn't get as cold. After the shower he usually falls asleep so I think we'll change his showers to the evening instead of in the morning when we shower.

I'll try to be better about posting on the blog this week. I hope we've got some new readers (I think my email finally made it out). Hello to all!

You and Scott went to church? Small wonder that the East Coast is now bombarded by violent storms and other freakish weather. Holy ground Highlander!
I'm sure it'll die down soon though. That is of course, until my impious, heathen ass decides to temp The Lords wrath and step into a church. Be sure to look for a few signs of the apocolypse on that day my friends. Last time I attempted that, the natural order was completely overwhelmed. How do you think Lake Muscanetcong was turned into a lifeless, fetid pool of pure evil? Ah, good times!
Glad to hear you guys had a great dinner this past Holiday. I myself had a typical Easter dinner. The extreme pleasure of sitting on the floor alone with nothing but a half-frozen Chef America Easter Lamb Hot Pocket and a thin, vinegry bottle of Boones "Country Kwencher" wine in which to wash it down. Of course, it beats the time I brought that green meat to Scott and Tonys lake house for a barbeque. The good life friends. The good life.
And if all that catches you guys off gaurd, that's nothing compared to Owen, Scott and Christine's weekend. Imagine, getting all dressed up to witness a Quickening! And all this time I thought there could be only One...
