Let's not count how long it's been

After a very long blog hiatus, we're back.

Owen is upstairs hanging out with Dad and I'm down here "working." I really don't want to be working - so I decided to blog instead.

So much has happened since I last bothered to write to you all. Here's a quick recap (in bullets since I am in work-mode):
  • Owen's bottom two teeth came up around August 8. Dad was the first to notice them... but somehow Mom wound up buying his first pair of shoes. (Side bar: Unfortunately, the shoes I bought (Robeez) were too big so I'll save them for when he gets bigger and until then he is shoeless. This is no problem expect for when it is chilly. He has no traction in socks!)
  • The baby gates went up. Owen is on the move. After a few lessons from Aunt Barbara while staying in Cape Cod for the weekend, Owen took to crawling like a pro. He seems to progress quickly from one thing to the next - so as soon as he could crawl to a wall or chair, he taught himself how to stand up. He loves standing up using whatever is near him for balance, which unfortunately has led to a few boo-boos.
  • We finally found a new nanny. She will start next week and we are very excited. She came to us through a parent referral and seems very trustworthy and good natured. I hope things work out... for all of our sakes.
  • Mommy got a new car! I traded in the Accord for a fuel efficient hybrid (Prius)... just in time as gas was $3.20 today. So far I am getting 45 mpg.
  • Owen has been having a real challenge sleeping. I am not sure if it is due to teething or what, but he is a real stinker when it comes to sleeping - day or night. Mom and Owen sleep in the spare room and Dad is back in the big, soft bed (with Rocco). In this arrangement, at least some sleep is gotten... not waking up every 30 minutes to soothe Owen back to sleep. I am hoping this is a "phase" because it is very frustrating.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. Heck, it's a lot more than the past two months. I promise to try to do better (how's that for a non-commitment)...

A Prius? I'm jealous. You should have stuck it out though. In attempt to find a new vocation, I'm getting into the oil refining business. Though its the oil from human hair that I'll be refining. Forget Petroleum. Fill up, with Marcoleum.

I like more the fact that Blog was used as a verb.
