Another dry spell

More than a two week lapse in posting... sorry.

So much has happened; Owen is growing so much and learning so many new things. It has really been a joy lately. He is starting to develop his own personality, which so far has been easy-going and fun-loving.

On Father's Day weekend, Owen and I took the trek up to NJ. Our first stop was to Brick to visit with Babcia and Great-Aunt Helen. Babcia is in a rehab center recovering from a fall a few weeks ago. She is doing a bit better, but is really down. Owen cheers her up so we were happy to spend time with her. Owen was a really good boy the whole time we visited with her... lots of smiles and giggles. He also showed her how he sits up and plays with his toys. Everyone thinks he is going to get a tooth soon. They say whoever finds the first tooth has to buy the baby his first pair of shoes. Fortunately, Owen is still shoe-less!

Today Owen went swimming for the first time. I took him to our neighborhood pool by myself (so no pictures). I have been wanting to take him for a while but a number of silly happenstance have gotten in the way. Anyway, we finally made it and it was a good time. Owen wasn't really quite sure about the whole thing (remember, he showers not baths so the submerged in water is unusual for him). I think he liked it. I didn't put him underwater... I was too worried. Good thing Dad wasn't there... he would have done it for sure.

I bought some baby rice cereal and baby veggies and fruits today. I got organic brown rice cereal and organic fruits and veggies. I read such awful things about Gerber that I'd really like to not buy their food products if possible. I am hoping to hold out another two weeks until he is 6 months old. I figure why complicate things when they are so easy as they are... and he surely doesn't look as if he is starving!

What else is new.... Owen sits up a lot. He can sit by himself for a while (20 minutes) and play by himself (closely monitored, of course). He babbles a lot too. And, as hinted to above, is teething. That means lots of drool, lots of chewing and lots of irritability.

I'll leave all the trials related to the nanny for another time. I hope by then it will have a better ending than today.

So... there are lots of pictures. They are in reverse chronological order (sorry). Enjoy!

I heard rotten things about Gerber too. Of course, that when they were test marketing that new product line overseas. I think they were calling it Baby Soylent Green at the time but now it's just called Vanilla. Mmmmm, wow, that vanilla babyfood is a good time. I'm not even joking about this one, it's actually pretty good. I'm sure it's all corn syrup and Yellow #5 but who fucking cares. I wish they'd market a line of M&M's that taste like that stuff. Anyway, did you guys know that Jane Seymore Medicine Woman was the Gerber baby? Jesus, who knew baby food was so damn interesting. Hm. Sorry, trailed off there. I have no idea where I was going with that Soylent Green stuff. Something about some Gerber rumors in Africa and they thought it was made out of babies or something. I don't know.
